The Error:
“The page “_________” has content of MIME type “video/quicktime”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed.”
The Resolution:
What it comes down to is Apple and Microsoft do not play nice, and I would say its Microsoft to a much larger extent. Basically Microsoft makes it difficult to view their files (.wmv and .wma) on Safari. The error generated indicates Safari cannot find the plug-in and links you to the Windows Media Player Download Center. If you dig far enough and with a little bit of luck you can find the Windows Media Components for QuickTime buried with various other options. The Windows Media Components for QuickTime will install Flip4Mac™, which allows you to play Windows Media files (.wma and .wmv) directly in QuickTime Player and view Windows Media content on the Internet using a Web browser. To Microsoft, can’t you all just get along?
