PHILADELPHIA– Tecmo Super Bowl legend QB Eagles was on hand Thursday night at Lincoln Financial Field to support Michael Vick’s debut as a Philadelphia Eagle. “Mike [Vick] did OK tonight. To be honest with you, I was looking for him to scramble in a zig-zag pattern a little more - that always makes the defense miss, ” QB Eagles said of Vick’s performance.

“It’s been a long journey for me,” Vick said. “I just want to do it right this time around.” Vick didn’t see much time on the field, but did show he can still fire a football with his laser-rocket arm. It’s just a matter of time before he gets his legs back and returns to that dynamic, explosive, play-maker we became used to that earned him the top overall draft spot many years ago.
“I would say his physical condition was: AVERAGE,” QB Eagles said, “His running speed was a 78, his running power around a 70, maximum speed close to 89, hitting power 15, passing speed 70, pass control 70, accuracy of passing 72, and avoid pass block about a 90.”

Eagles Old Playbook
“Once I get myself into tiptop shape, the sky’s the limit,” Vick said. QB Eagles couldn’t agree more with Vick’s assessment. If Vick’s physical condition ever reached: GOOD, “His running speed might hit close to 92 or beyond,” QB Eagles said. After the game QB Eagles caught up with Vick and showed him some video clips of his playing days. “We went over my old play book,” QB Eagles said, “It took us a while, but we got through the 8 plays and hopefully Coach Reid will incorporate some of them into his offense.”
Vick completed 4 of 4 passes for 19 yards rushed for only 1 yard on a designed run where Vick had nowhere to go. The rush which only resulted in 1 yard came to the dismay of QB Eagles. “I was shocked Jacksonville correctly picked the play on defense - that will get you every time,” QB Eagles said with his head hung low.
Tonight’s match up was only a PRESEASON MAN VS MAN contest so only positives can be taken away from it. “It was awesome. When I was running out onto the field I was listening to see what the reaction was going to be,” Vick said. “I was very pleased. I really didn’t expect that reaction, but I was very thankful.”
“I was also pleased by the crowd reaction, ” QB Eagles said, “The fans can be really colorful with their blank white circular faces.” On the last play of the game the Jacksonville Jaguars lateraled the ball several times until finally the play stopped. “What the hell was that,” QB Eagles said shocked, “I thought once you had the ball you couldn’t do that? So much has changed since my playing days. Well, I’m just glad Michael Vick is back on the field.”
QB Eagles said he will be monitoring NFL LEADERS board all season long to see how Vick is doing.
