Avatar Movie Review

Put the name James Cameron on a movie and the world takes notice, and for good reason. The crafty Canadian has produced such colossal hits such as Terminator 2, and Titanic. Avatar is a worthy addition to this collection.
Set aside all the hype and reviews from the other critics. Here are a few bottom-line reasons I think this film is worth seeing:
1. Technical Achievement in Cinema - New state of the art 3D cameras and rendering technology as well as new CGI (Computer Generated Image) technologies were all encompassed in the creation of Avatar. The result: a stunning visual experience where the “real” and CGI world are seamlessly integrated. This is your first glimpse at the next generation of cinema.
2. IMAX 3D - Long gone are the days where IMAX was reserved for Africa: The Serengeti documentary type films; now we can enjoy visually epic films like the Dark Knight and the current Avatar. Who doesn’t want to watch a movie on a ridiculously massive IMAX screen and earth shaking sound? 3D technology is nudging its way into more films these days to split fan fare. In the case of Avatar, its the most lease nauseating experience I’ve ever had.
3. Moral of the Story - Pay attention to the culture and values of the native people, named the Na’vi. The messages, while idealistic, carry some truth and provoke thoughts of our world and how far we are from our noble roots.
Cameron has reminded us why we go to the movies and why screens the size of the stories-tall IMAX are still necessary. While Avatar may not be the best movie of the year, it is a one of kind cinematic experience worthy of your pennies. Watching it on your laptop or measly 42inch LCD won’t quite cut it.
